Lieu (Leo) Nguyen Short Introduction

Lieu (Leo) Nguyen is the first Vietnamese artist who pursues the style of ‘action painting’. He
does not touch the canvas with his brush, all the paintings are made by dropping the paint on
the canvas. The artist perfectly balances tens of thousands of unique points on each canvas,
each a different size and color to create a flawlessly balanced and strong image on his artworks.

According to him, ‘action painting’ or ‘gestural abstraction’ requires high concentration as well
as determination and consistent level of control in each picture. A good painter is the one who
knows to stop the brush in time. As for Leo, the only difficulty is how to make your tactics have
its own style and your paintings must be different from the previous artists’ paintings.
